Welcome to my home page! I am Zhihuai Lin, currently pursuing my Master of Philosophy (By Research) at the School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University.

My research areas include media effects, public opinion, human-computer interaction, digital public health campaigns, and computational social science. My research aims to advance two lines of intellectual inquiry: (1) understanding how digital environments influence and are influenced by human perceptions, behaviors, and communication patterns, particularly in the contexts of politics, health, and technology adoption; and (2) examining the social and psychological implications of emerging technologies, with a focus on how individuals and communities adapt to and interact with these evolving digital landscapes. I devote myself to computational communication research, using digital data and computational methods for theory-driven research. My study aims to help public sectors, media organizations, and technology companies design and evaluate public communication campaigns, conduct evidence-based interventions and solutions to reduce bias, inequality, and miscommunication amid political polarization and information disorder, and promote more diverse, open, and deliberative dialogues within society. My research profiles are on Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and ORCID.

My academic path was preceded by a prosperous journalistic career, where my in-depth investigative work on pressing social issues has been recognized. My enthusiasm for data visualization and storytelling led me to win accolades like the Human Rights Press Awards and Campus News Awards for illuminating the plight of gender-based violence against journalists in Hong Kong during the anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill (ELAB) movement as well as sexual violence on Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway faced by commuters, pushing conversations and policy considerations on safety and security in public transportation.

I obtained my M.A. degree from the School of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a B.Comm. degree from the Department of Journalism, School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University.
